What Happens in October Stays in October

Between Kaolin Festival and BBQ Blast, October is jam-packed around here. Here are some more sights from October 2009.

My second try of the Bread Baker's Apprentice Challenge was Greek Celebration Bread.

The State of Georgia held hearings about a new coal plant in Washington County, and I was lucky enough to get a photo of two of our friends..Sandersville mayor Jimmy Andrews and Tennille mayor Pat Lyons.

When we went to Savannah for the day, we saw that many others were as tired as we were.

Girl had a surprise birthday party for her boyfriend--man, was he surprised!

Another photography mission...and I found several gravemarkers to the Confederacy in the old cemetary.

Halloween Eyes courtesy of Dr. Kreslyn Odum!

Alix's gang got ready for friend Sarah's halloween party at our house.

And then friend Joel took our tickets for the community production of "Nunsense". Brilliantly done!

Dr. Odum opened the doors of her practice for an AMAZING Halloween Party.

The good doctor dressed as a hunter with reptile eyes, and me in my fangs and red eyes and Alix in her blue cat eyes.

Friend Anna makes every great party even better!

AJ came home with some fraternity brothers to learn a little about beer brewing...and some interesting food combinations occurred.

It was a really fun way to end a very busy month!

Catching Up with September

September saw quite a few interesting goings-on at Maison Cou Rouge and the surrounding area.....

For the first time in 8 years, I attended a Brentwood Football game without a son in shoulder pads.

The Folly and I had some fun at my friend Anna's expense.

I got interested in baking artisanal bread...my first french loaves!

Then I proceeded to begin The Bread Baker's Apprentice" Challenge....and made Anadama Bread.

In a nod to becoming more organic, I had a try at making yogurt, and found it quite easy.

I felt so much more comfortable now that Washington County has it's own Homeland Security vehicle.

Homecoming Week at Brentwood started out with 60's day...

The following day saw the third annual Powder Puff Game and Homely Coming Presentation. I was quite involved this year, not only announcing the presentation, and co-writing the biographies with Alan, but also helping get the...um...GIRLS...ready for the competition.......

The eventual winner is in blue.

Thursday of Homecoming Week was "Old Folk's Day"

And Joe College surprised us by coming home for the Homecoming Game!

Catching Up with August

Just some sights from our August 2009...

Sunflowers growing for the deer

Moving AJ into Georgia Tech

I made Peach Chutney and Pomegranate Peach Preserves

Miss Jane's smartcar met up with the Folly for a cute photo on the Square

I took a bunch of photos of abandoned houses for a thread at Captain's Voyage

And we ended up the month with an unwanted outside visitor....
.

It was a nice-not too hot- month that saw Alix begin her Sophomore year in high school, and AJ become "Joe College" at Georgia Tech and pledge Phi Gamma Delta fraternity..better known as FIJI.

All too soon, it was Labor Day...and September was upon us.
