Happy Hunting!!!

Mirth and merriment have returned to Maison Cou Rouge's master of the house.

The Great Hunter and his "dog"ter.

Hunting season is once again in full swing. At noon, Grumpy Guy and Chip, that most glorious of chocolate labs, departed for luncheon and dove hunting. That it is drizzling will not daunt the intrepid hunters, and hopefully we will be having dove for dinner.

Chip gets a special ride on the opening day-in the cab!!!

The best thing that could be seen about last night's ballgame was the new field. Still not perfect, but beautiful- I took off my shoes just to walk on our beautiful superbowl sod.
Except for that opening kickoff runback for a touchdown by the Rebels, it was a pretty even fight. No other scores. Boy did catch two pretty passes, and had some great runs up the gut. But still, he's not happy about opening the season with a loss, even to a non-region team. Not looking forward to practice on Monday, either.

You can always spot Boy by his black socks.

Boy and his friends have decided to have a "wing-off" tonight-going to Zaxby's to see how many "INSANE" sauced-wings can be eaten. Yes, this counts as excitement on a Saturday night here. Get out the Pepcid- pics to follow!

Chip says "Happy Labor Day! "

YAY!

(Sing along with me...)
I've got the whole house to myself...I've got the whole house to myself......I've got the whole house to myself...I've got the whole house to myself!

Grumpy Guy is out today on a consulting gig, so I'm all alone!! No one to ask me questions, need a file, wonder what's for dinner, etc. Just me and loads and loads of laundry.

But most of my lovely day will be taken up finishing a project for my digital photography course that is due today and editing pics of yesterday's cross country meet (Girl's team finished 5th!!) for the paper and school yearbook.

The fun never ceases.

Oh, and a note to all who all who have survived, or are attempting to survive life with a teenaged daughter...
This morning, just as I was fixing another cup of coffee, I heard Girl as she headed out the door utter the words "Mama, I took your hairbrush-I need it for after Gym, I'll bring it back tonight."
I guess I need to head to the store for a new one.

Eighth Grade Humor

The muse is not being kind to me, so today, I shall just repeat the jokes my eighth grade daughter told me yesterday.

Silly Joke 1

Three women die together in an accident and go to heaven. When they get there, St. Peter says, "We only have one rule here in heaven...don't step on the ducks."
So they enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck, and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one.
Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw. St. Peter chains them together and says "Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!"
The next day, the second woman steps accidentally on a duck, and along comes St. Peter, who doesn't miss a thing, and with him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman.
The third woman has observed all this and, not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, VERY careful where she steps. She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks, but one day St. Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on. Very tall, long eyelashes, muscular, and thin.
St. Peter chains them together without saying a word. The woman remarks, "I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity?"
The guy says, "I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck!"

Silly Joke 2- (please note that the owner of this blog and her family are Episcopalians, who believe "Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.")

Three ladies- a Baptist, a Methodist, and an Episcopalian are in the waiting room in Hell. The ladies begin trying to figure out why they've been sent there. The Baptist lady said " I danced with a boy once when I was young. That's probably the reason.” The Methodist lady said "Well, I did have a cocktail once. That's probably the reason." There’s a moment of silence, and then the Episcopalian lady says, “Well, I once ate a whole meal with my salad fork.”

Weekend Wrapup

Once again, I am left wondering where the weekend went.
We traveled to Athens, GA for Girl's first cross country meet of the season. Coach was happy, especially with Girl's finish-11th. She fought to beat a Junior, and recovered nicely when said Junior elbowed her within 10 meters of the finish line. Yep, she beat her. GO GIRL!

Her fellow 8th grader on varsity came in 2nd!! They look happy to be finished-as it was 97 at 9am when they started, and 96% humidity, so it was like running in 102 hot sticky degrees.

The varsity boys and Jr. Varsity did well also, and everyone was glad to be finished by 10am. A quick trip to the musician's warehouse, another quick stop to my yarn shop, then we treated ourselves to a couple of po'boys at Gautreau's Cajun Cafe in Watkinsville before driving the 90 minutes home. Yes, cajun food in the middle of Bulldog country.
A little afternoon nap, and we were off to Milledgeville to take the non-driving bunch to the movies. I wish we had gone to see "Rush Hour 3" with them instead of "The Bourne Ultimatum" as I got a headache from the all the handheld camera shots. What I do for buttered popcorn.....
The school season is off to a rollicking start, with volunteer stuff all day tomorrow, and another track meet on Wednesday afternoon. I hate it when my schedule gets so full so quickly- no time to work on the piles of projects that need doing around the house---uh, like cooking and showering...let's not even think knitting this week. I need to find smaller projects.
