The World of Coca Cola

What to do for a field trip in Atlanta when you only have two hours?

Well, that rules the Aquarium out, because you really need 3 or 4 hours to see everything there. So we headed to the World of Coca-Cola to learn some history about the world's most popular soft drink.

Outside is a charming interactive statue of Dr. John Pemberton, the inventor of Coca-Cola.

First there's a guided view of lots and LOTS of Coke paraphernalia

And then the center of the building leads off in various areas. Right now, the World of Coca-Cola is all ready for Christmas.

There are some great displays of original artwork.

But the highlight of the tour is the area where you can taste all 64 varieties of Coca Cola products that are produced around the world.

I wish we could buy some of the ones from Asia and Africa in the USA- they are really TASTY!

My particular favorite was the pineapple flavored Bibo from South Africa and the -I think it was carrot/mango-- from Japan. Delaware Punch (which brought back instant memories from my childhood--I haven't had Delaware Punch in 40 years!) is still available in Honduras. And it was so funny to watch the girls expressions as they tried Beverly--a Coca Cola product found in Italy that tastes a bit like Campari and Soda....imagine a hyped-up tonic water. Hilarious!

It was a great day--yes, teachers, and an EDUCATIONAL one-- spending time with Alix and her friends is SO MUCH FUN!!!

What Happened????

It just occurred to me, whilst standing in the butcher department of Harveys, that this year is 11/12ths over. I'm thinking "Rack of Lamb for Easter" when there are piles of frozen turkeys ready to be consumed in 48 hours.

I know time flies, but this one seems to have a solid rocket booster strapped to it. Wowzzzza!

Yes, my mom and Sisters-in-~~Sloshed~~ Law went to New York for the annual pilgrimmage. But that deserves many posts, so I'll just skip over that and move onto our non-stop fun since last week.

Friday, I had the great pleasure of attending Girl's World History Class to spend the hour discussing Buddhism with her classmates.

They were a wonderful group, amazingly attentive and full of questions. I can't believe I talked for a full hour!

Friday night, we had a FABULOUS time watching the Brentwood War Eagles make their way into the GISA AA Football Finals. Doesn't my friend Beth's daughter look great flying?

Wouldn't it be fun to weigh 94 pounds again??? (Wait, did I EVER weight 94 pounds???)

Anyway, the Eagles looked great, and Coach Brown was pleased.

And so, we play for the Championship against Memorial Day School of Savannah on THIS Friday!

Saturday, Grumpy Guy and I travelled to Athens to tailgate before the Georgia/Kentucky game with friends Phillip and Kathy.

And, thanks to Phillip, we had AMAZING seats.....50 yard line, four rows up. Only the ESPN cameraman had a better view.

Sunday, Alix and three friends and I took off for the Big City. They had tickets to see the bands Taking Back Sunday and All-American Rejects. We stopped briefly in Warthen so I could take a photo of Georgia's first jail (seriously...built in in 1783)

and, of course, take a pic of the back seat bevy of beauties!

The Atlanta skyline at dusk from our hotel room on Cenntennial Olympic Park was wonderful.

and by 11:30, the girls were back from the concert, little the worse for having crowd-surfed (although Caro lost a flip-flop........)

We called Monday, a "field trip day" and before heading back to Washington County, took a stroll through the park, noticing all the bricks donated to build the park for the 1996 Olympics
