2012 SFC Venetian Afternoon

The pigeon really doesn't know what to make of our family.

Do you blame him (or her?)  I mean, here we are, a group of 15 family members, spanning three generations, all drinking wine on the terrace of the lovely Bauer Hotel.  Laughing up a storm, telling stories on ourselves, making silly hand gestures and doing funny walks.  Even the kids join in.

We watched cruise ships sail down the Canale della Guidecca, knowing that day-after-tomorrow, that will be us.

Yes, we are strange.

But pretty.

Now we realize what the pigeon was after.

No, we will NOT share our olives and almonds with you.

The girl is happy.  And I LOVE Emerson's reaction in the background. Heaven knows WHAT was going on behind me.  Bunny ears?  Handstands?

This is a family that can tell time by it's stomach.  So we head off in search of dinner...and found a yummy meal at Ristorante Alla Borsa.

Now, those of you who know me know precisely what I think of most blush wines...especially the dreaded white zinfandel served all-to-frequently here in Middle-Of-Nowhere, Georgia.  So it was with fear and trepidation that I said "okay" to a blush Pinot Grigio.

And may I say that it was DELIGHTFUL.  None of the awful sweetness of a white zin--it was crisp and dry with a little minerality that was PERECT with our dinner.

We were made crepes tableside!!!!

Ah, yes...look around you.  We definitely ain't in Kansas, Toto!
