Teen Halloween

Grumpy Guy and I gave our consent, after much badgering, for Girl to have a Halloween party. Ok, I guess we were guilted into it, as we never got around to having a 13th birthday party for her(her birthday is just weeks after Christmas, and all that gift giving just got the better of us after a few years...). So, with a wing and a prayer (and a few trips out of town to locate appropriate supplies and t-shirts, and even more deliveries from UPS to our house), a Halloween Bash was had last weekend...splat in the middle of the Georgia football game. Here are the results.....

Labor Day Weekend Fun

Remember I promised pictures of Boy's "Wing-Off"??

Here is Saturday Night Fun in all its glory...

The challenge: Eat as many of Zaxby's Insane sauced wings as you can. (Actually, they used boneless chicken fingers for easier eating)

The contestants:
Boy and two friends

The peanut gallery: His friends, his girfriend, his sister and her friends.

The Results:

They are hotter than they look (the wings, that is)

Boy sweats through to win by one bite

A friend in need is a friend indeed

If brother can do it, so can I

Er- maybe not

Ice cream helps

Friends struggle to keep up

And sometimes can't even wait for a glass

Water doesn't help, no matter how fast you guzzle it

Breyer's by the gallon!

It's amazing what Georgia's teens will do during football commercials!!
GOOOOOOOO Dawgs- SIC 'EM- WOOF WOOF WOOF!

Weekend Wrapup

Once again, I am left wondering where the weekend went.
We traveled to Athens, GA for Girl's first cross country meet of the season. Coach was happy, especially with Girl's finish-11th. She fought to beat a Junior, and recovered nicely when said Junior elbowed her within 10 meters of the finish line. Yep, she beat her. GO GIRL!

Her fellow 8th grader on varsity came in 2nd!! They look happy to be finished-as it was 97 at 9am when they started, and 96% humidity, so it was like running in 102 hot sticky degrees.

The varsity boys and Jr. Varsity did well also, and everyone was glad to be finished by 10am. A quick trip to the musician's warehouse, another quick stop to my yarn shop, then we treated ourselves to a couple of po'boys at Gautreau's Cajun Cafe in Watkinsville before driving the 90 minutes home. Yes, cajun food in the middle of Bulldog country.
A little afternoon nap, and we were off to Milledgeville to take the non-driving bunch to the movies. I wish we had gone to see "Rush Hour 3" with them instead of "The Bourne Ultimatum" as I got a headache from the all the handheld camera shots. What I do for buttered popcorn.....
The school season is off to a rollicking start, with volunteer stuff all day tomorrow, and another track meet on Wednesday afternoon. I hate it when my schedule gets so full so quickly- no time to work on the piles of projects that need doing around the house---uh, like cooking and showering...let's not even think knitting this week. I need to find smaller projects.

What Happened to the Weekend?

In all seriousness, I feel like I missed the past 54+ hours.

How can a well-educated, well-read, intelligent woman of my years have NOTHING to show for two and one-half days of her life??

It seems I spent all day Saturday in a vain attempt to pick up the house. It still looks the same.

I spent most of the day yesterday working on the baby blanket while watching the entire miniseries "The Way We Live Now" (thank you Netflix for having so many Masterpiece Theatre-type dvds). It still looks the same.

We did manage to take Girl and two friends to see "The Invasion" with Nicole Kidman. It was ok, but is the fourth remake of the book "The Body Snatchers"- so, basically, it still looks the same.

Guess the only thing around here that doesn't look the same is Boy's truck. Grumpy Guy, aka "wonder dad" did it while trying a little landscape removal. GG's truck, affectionately known as Babe, is recovering at WACO Collision Repair from taking on half a bradford pear during a windstorm. So he decided to use Boy's pride and joy.

Nice One, Dad.

To Boy's credit, his reaction was "it's okay-it's no big deal. It'll get fixed. Are you okay?"

Nice One, Boy.

Oh, yeh, I forgot to mention----

FOOTBALL HAS BEGUN!!
(Fullback in the black socks)-
More tomorrow.
