SFC 2010 Rome

Ah, Rome--the eternal city. Beautiful, ancient, wonderful.

COOL.

It was so nice to leave the oppressive heat and humidity that is the deep South USA in summer. The sun is warm, not blazing. The air is clear, not hazy with moisture. And there is wine every which-way you turn.

My dear internet friend Cecilia flew from Edinburgh to Rome to spend two days with us. Talk about making me feel special! She met us just after we arrived at the Grand Hotel Parco dei Principi next to the Villa Borghese gardens. We immediately set off for a look-see.

I think there's a story here....

This Cow Parade thing is getting out of hand...first we see them in Berlin last year...now here??

The Spanish Steps were crowded....

but beautiful.

That evening, before supper, Cecilia introduced me to ONE of the reasons she came all the way to Rome- Lookchin!

Now a bit of explanation. You will see a LOT of Lookchin. He is the World Friendship Ambassador for Captain's Voyage Forum and website. He is also the beloved bear of my beloved friend Jan-Olav Storli. Thinking it would make a clever thread for Captains Voyage Forum, Jan-Olav sent Lookchin to Cecilia, who then handed him over to me to go visit the ship that was once "his daddy's".

We ate dinner that night at the hotel. And it was wonderful and unhurried in that divine Italian style. We had time for catchup conversation and chitchat and discussions.
