Bangkok- Golden Buddha

I was more than excited to finally be able to see Bangkok-- the city that my darling friend Jan-Olav calls his true home.

Our first stop after the two-hour trip from the Laem Chabang port was Wat Trimitr- the site of the Golden Buddha.

Outside the temple, food sellers had lots of yummy looking things...

Bangkok is known for its street food!

The it was into the temple complex.

I can't believe this is solid gold.  Or that it was concealed in plaster from invading armies until about 30 years ago.

So beautiful and calming.

I sat for about 20 minutes gazing upon this lovely serene face.

Then it was time for lunch.  Such interesting sights along the way.

And then on to the Grand Palace!!
